ABSTRACT

Left atrial appendage ( LAA) arises from the left atrial free wall. It is the remnant of the original embryonic LA, distinct from the rest of the left atrium. It has a unique anatomical structure, physiological function, hemodynamic characteristics. LAA has complex surrounding structures, great variability, and close relation with thrombosis. This paper reviews the morphological and functional characteristics of LAA. Familiar with adjacent relationship of LAA and correlation between LAA and thrombus formation has important clinical significance that can reduce the risk of postoperative complications in interventional procedures, the incidence of car?dioembolic stroke, the clinical misdiagnosis on LAA thrombosis.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>OBJECTIVE</b>To investigate the expression of cyclin D1 in cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and squamous cell carcinoma and its relationship with human papillomavirus 16 (HPV16) E7 gene expression.</p><p><b>METHODS</b>Both SiHa and Hcc94 cell lines were obtained from cervical epithelial cells of squamous cell carcinoma. E6/E7 gene was silent in Hcc94 cell line.Expression levels of cyclin D1 mRNA and protein in CIN and squamous cell carcinoma were detected by QT-PCR and immunohistochemistry (IHC) respectively. SiRNA was constructed for targeting the promoter of HPV16 E7 and then transfected into SiHa cells to establish cm-16 line with stable silencing of E7. Control cell line B3 was obtained by blank plasmid transfection into SiHa cells. RT-PCR and Western blot were used to detect cyclin D1 mRNA and protein expression in the SiHa, B3, and cm-16 cells, respectively.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>Cyclin D1 was expressed in the basal cells of normal cervical squamous epithelia and the expression gradually decreased in the progression from CIN1 to CIN3. Squamous cell carcinoma showed negative or scattered expression of cyclin D1 (P<0.05). Both mRNA and protein of cyclin D1 in E7(+) SiHa cells were lower than those in cm-16 and Hcc94 cells.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>Squamous cell carcinoma with high HPV E7 expression shows low level of cyclin D1, suggesting that HPV16 E7 gene inhibits the expression of cyclin D1.</p>

ABSTRACT

Objective To discuss the value of pregnantal ultrasonography(US) on fetus' complicate congenital heart diseases(CHD). Methods The uhrasonographic fetures of fetus complicate CHD were analyzed and compared with the pathological diagnosis. Resells Twenty fetus' complicate CHD were diagnosed by pregnantal US. Four cases with single ventricle, two eases with transposition of great arteries,two eases with double outlet right ventricle,two cases with truncus arteriosus,three cases with hypoplastic left heart syndrome, three cases with endocardial cushion defect, two cases with hypoplastic right heart syndrome,one case with tetralogy of Fallot and one case with pulmonary atresia were included. The diagnosing according rate was 100%. Conclusions Pregnantal US can fully evaluate the fetus' complicate CHD.

ABSTRACT

AIM: Our study focused on investigation of tissue specific regulatory activity of the newly cloned promoter: PLUNC-p with driving enhanced green fluorescent protein ( EGFP ). METHODS: Transgenic Xenopus Laevis system was applied.RESULTS: The green fluorescence protein directed under PLUNC-p was expressed strictly in branchial arches and epidermis of Xenopus Laevis embryos while CMV promoter showed ubiquitous regulation characteristic.CONCLUSION: PLUNC-p is able to direct epithelia specific expression of EGFP . This property of PLUNC-p might raise the possibility that lead target genes to express tissue-specifically.
